The Upierczi, another name for the Red Knights, brought themselves back from the brink of extinction through genetic engineering.We learn more about Mr. Church and a possible past love interest, Lilith. We learn more about Father Nicodemus and Hugh Vox.Joe and Echo Team (Top, Bunny, Lydia, Kahlid, and John) are all there. Ghost, as a trained military dog, gets cuter. "Ghost, the big furry flirt, wagged his tail."Joe gets a love interest, Violin, a woman as damaged as he is. I am *so* glad that she explicitly reappears at the very end of the book.

Is it even remotely possible that this book could get any better than it's predecessors? Well I can answer that question and it is yes! Although the other 3 were 5 stars and were most excellent, this one went a step further I think. I am not usually one for military, terrorism and the like, so when and author can make me like reading about those things, then he has a great talent! This series revolves around terrorism in one form or another. Each book is a different form and they just keep getting better, rich in imagery and great plot lines.I have to talk about the things I like best about this book, or actually any of the books. First would be the characters. They are all so rich in realism, so believable and brilliantly created. The Echo Team consists of so many great, unforgettable characters. Of course most people who know me would know by now who my favorite character is, but just in case there is a question about it, I will tell you. Joe! He is now my favorite character EVER! And that is saying a lot. Because I have read a lot of books, and met a lot of great characters. Move over Roland, Joe is in the forefront now.What I love most about Joe is his flawed character. It makes him superbly believable and I love that. Joe is the kind of guy that takes all those mistakes, all his fears and all his past failures and triumphs and he uses it to drive him forward. He is the kind of guy that never gives up. And when I say never I mean never. He is also witty and sarcastic and he loves those people in his life like family and would do what it takes to protect them. He lives with 3 personalities in his head, Cop, Warrior, and the Civilized man. And he learned to control them and use them appropriately.The next thing I love about this book/series is the amount of action that is in the book. It was just about non stop through all of them. A lot of what happens you don't quite expect, pair that with the great plot twists and you have an exciting, unforgettable story. I would have to recommend this book to everyone. I think everyone should jump aboard and form their own relationship with Joe. Because once you do, you will never forget the ride.

I think I have written this before but; there are no charming, sexy, Twilight-like vampires in John Maberry narratives. Instead what we get is nasty, hell-bent demons, who keep women in cells and use them as breeding stock to propogate their race.These are the vampires, originally sanctioned by the world's two most prominent warring religions, that Joe Ledger and the DMS encounter in Assasin's Code. The DMS -Department of Military Science- is a Special Ops team whose task it is to eliminate those threats that are so heinous that thy must remain secret. In Code, the action begins with Ledger and his team rescuing three twenty-something hikers who are being held in Iran. Sound familiar? Of course it does. What we, the public don't know however, is that after successfully freeing the three hikers, Ledger encounters an old nemesis who reveals that another, unrelated plot is in the works. Seven stolen nukes are planted at seven sites worldwide and one of those sites is apparently an oil rig off the coast of Louisianna.Sounds like typical Special-Ops plot twist huh? No such thing. You see what Ledger uncovers is a harbinger named Grigor who leads an insurgent group of vampires. These vampires, immune to radiation, could conceivably survive nuclear armagedon, rise up and take over the world. All Grigor and his vampire terrorists are waiting for are the detonation codes. Along the way, Ledger is helped by a sexy near-vampire assasin who is a member of an all women's group of assasins sworn to defeat the nasty vampires who raped them.The plot line gets a little complicated what with various bad guys using and betraying each other, but the sequences of violence are really gripping. In addition, Maberry, unlike most writers of this kind of fiction, draws out really complete, conflicted, and thoughful characters. These are characters that the reader and the villians in the novel can really sink their teeth into.

First, a stand alone read with a HEA. The first in a new series and OMG I LOVED IT. A young woman wakes up in a hospital bed. She is hurting all over but her only serious injury is to her head. Her brother is sitting in the room when she wakes up and he has aged since she saw him last. She later finds out that she has lost 8 years of her memory. She also discovers that she was to be married in 10 days and she has no memory of ever having seen her fiancé.This story is so good. i started reading, skipped dinner, kept reading until my battery died. I charged it up enough to finish!! It is a great story. i expected no less from Ms. Woods. I love all her books. This hero, Rafe, is beyond all you could imagine. I LOVED this guy. He is so in love with his fiancée and he will do anything to help her get her memory or to create enough new ones to have her fall in love with him again. Every woman that wants a love should have their own RAFE. Oh my, he is all that and more.The heroine of the story is a brilliant young designer of wedding gowns. She has won awards and accolades for her work. She remembers that but she doesn't remember the shop that she and her twin sister created. There are secrets. She feels everyone is keeping something from her but they keep saying no. You will never figure out where this is going. It is such a great read and I definitely recommend it. It is a wonderful start to a new series. I am looking forward to the next book and hate I have to wait until April 28 to get it. There are a lot of side characters so it is hard to guess which one will get the next book. A great read, don't miss it. I hated for this one to end.I was not paid for this review. Phoebe Goldsmith wakes up in a hospital to find that she has suffered a head injury that has wiped out the past 8 years of her memory. She has no recollection of her fiance, Rafe Masters, and is shocked to find out that she is to be married in 10 days. She agrees to return home with him in the hope of recovering her memory before the wedding. The premise of the story is good, but I found the execution lacking. I never really felt any connection with any of the characters.Language (f-bombs) and sexual situations may offend some readers.

Phoebe struggles with the fact that not only can't she remember the last eight years of her life she can't remember her fiance Rafe who she's suppose to be marrying in 10 days. The more Phoebe learns about who she has become the more she wonders if she wants to be old Phoebe again or should look at her memory lost as a second chance to be who she really is. Rafe is not only patient he's hopeful and determine to get Phoebe to fall in love with him again. I didn't really like Phoebe's mom I get her reason for wanting to keep some stuff from Phoebe not knowing how this new Phoebe would handle the information but I didn't like her encouraging everyone to lie to Phoebe. It's bad enough Phoebe was struggling to remember her life she didn't need the added pressure of suspecting those around her of lying about important parts of her life that affected why she changed so much. The secrets that are being kept have twisted to them that wasn't hard to figure out.

Phoebe received a head injury as a result of an accident which has left her with amnesia and she cannot remember the last several years. She has no memory past her years at university.Her fiancé, Rafe Masters, is a firefighter and wants them to be married on their planned wedding date in just ten days. Her family is against this since they think she should wait until her memory comes back, even if it never comes back.Phoebe and her sister, plus their mom, own a shop up in the Northland called Bay of Islands where she and her sister create and sew exquisite one of a kind wedding dresses. But she doesn’t remember that either.Rafe insists that Phoebe recuperates from her injury with him since they had been living together prior to her injury. And he thinks it is his best chance to win her back.Their relationship was having some issues and you are left wondering up until the end who is responsible for the issues. Although using amnesia as a plot point does seem tried and tired, Ms. Woods manages to use it as a plot mechanism that moves the story along and makes you think about what you would do in the same place.The relationship between Race and Phoebe is one that is loving and caring. I did not want this book to end since I want to see what happens next.I did receive a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair, unbiased review. Although to be completely honest, I do pre-order her books as soon as it is possible. I think I have not read 2 or 3 of her novels that she has written. And I am working on making sure that the list is 100% read.

It is an entertaining read, but is entertaining what you want in a poker book?Bad: Is not about about "Exploitative Play" or "How to Manipulate your Opponents into Making Mistakes". I'm not sure it is really about "Live Poker" unless what he means is unschooled opponents. Padding that is almost sales-pitchy, like the marketing emails he sends out. Few example hands (30?). Lots of irrelevant/useless content. References to "databases" that he doesn't back up with the data. Shortish. I'm not sure I can think of anything in it that would make me want to recommend it to someone. (Actually some of the non-poker stuff in it might be something I recommend to people have problems in those areas, but is that what you are look for in a book with this title?) Could almost be a single chapter in one of those portmanteau books D&B seems to like if you stripped out all of the irrelevant stuff, but if it was I would have probably liked that chapter (keeping in mind that there would have been another 10 chapters from other authors).Summary: If you were thinking "finally, a book about exploitative play!" this isn't it. It is "Alexander Fitzgerald's poker book". If you were looking for the former, don't buy it. If the latter, well, it's only $20 and not terrible.

As this title suggest, this book teaches you how to "exploit" the 80% of players are simply playing their cards. Alex stresses that the tactics in this book is NOT for trying to exploit top pros or players playing GTO.I play in a league with 60 players and about 85% of them are in this category of "playing their cards" and also calling 3-bet Out of Position and then playing fit or fold on the flop. His strategies outlined in this book works PERFECTLY against this field and I have been crushing my league by following his blueprint.This book doesn't give you any charts to memorize, but rather teaches you how to think and take advantage of +eV spots and his tactics are backed by analytics. I find Alex's style very refreshing and the book is an easy read. The tactics seems simple on the surface but they WORK!!!I have actually purchased his training video "How to Think Like a Poker Player" and this book is a nice summary of that training video, but the videos go into much more detail and hand examples.I highly recommend this book

Really happy with my purchase of this book! I am a low stakes live tournament player predominantly, and this book is chock full of concepts and strategies that have made me a lot more confident that I am better prepared than almost all of the other players at the table. Some of the material in this book has helped me with online sit n go's as well (even though that is not the focus of this book). I am re-reading the book now, and I have lots of appreciation for Mr. Fitzgeralds writing style. The book is easy to read, and his explanations of concepts, that I had previously had a hard time grasping, have been explained in a way that makes the point crystal clear. I will say that playing according to the concepts put forth in this book has at times taken me far out of my comfort zone, but the results have been speaking for themselves. This is a great book, and has made me thirsty for more from this author! Thanks for the edge, Alex!

Anybody who is familiar with Alex knows he produces alot of content. Sometimes, its being thirty and trying to drink from a fire hose. Now, his content is relevant, and worthwhile, the problem, at least with his videos, is that it can take several viewings to really grasp it all.What is great about the book, is that it really does summarize and reinforce all of his content from at least the last year. This book puts it all in one place, and it a relatively easy reading format. Very few poker writing as what I would say "easy to read". Great book for anyone who wants to work on their game, 1/2, 1/3 and maybe 2/5. I think its also great for anyone who is familiar with Alex's work. It helps drive home the points he has delivered via youtube and oneouter podcasts.

I just finished reading Exploitative Play. One thing for sure - I need to read it again. I give it 4 stars overall (I'm a tough critic - 5 is very hard to get with me).By far the most essential section is after the main part of the book. Alex really opens up and shares ALL of his trials and tribulations about going professional. If you have thought of doing that yourself, or know someone who is, this is the section of the book to read. Worth the price alone. I haven't found anything close to this good of a brass tacks look at the life of a professional poker player, and what someone can expect out of it.That said, the sections on exploiting other players are really good - I'll be rereading them and using them all. Plus, the best thing about those sections is that he lays out the thought process around them. So you can find more places like them on your own. You'll have to do some work, but you'll reap the rewards too.Overall, it's also a fast and entertaining read. Nuts and bolts, solid advice, and it's relevant TODAY.Glad I picked it up. - B

The material is very focused and distilled to key rationales of what works, and why, against large chunks of the opponent field; then what to do about it. The writing is quite crisp and well edited for poker material.While the actual sub-title is “How to manipulate your opponents into making mistakes,” it could also be “how to manipulate yourself into playing the way you can & should” against them.Having read and studied a wide variety of technical poker material, convincing myself to execute the concepts while playing is somewhat different. Alex's approach to teaching snaps me out of my tendency to "hold back" and just do it.

I purchased this cookbook for me and one for my daughter for Christmas. She is going to be so happy to get this as one of her gifts. This will give her more ways to use her rice cooker.

If you have never included rice in your meals this is the product to have, from the midwest we were potato based for meals, now we have expanded our menu. I would recommend this product to everyone.

Very useful if you only have a rice cooker to cook stuff in (like if you're in a dorm)Dishes need some preparation, but they're worth it.I easily found the ingredients required, probably because I'm in Asia.

First of all, you need a basic rice cooker not one with extra features. I expected to get recipes to put ingredients into the rice or on top of a stand in the rice cooker and turn on the cooker and forget about it. Instead, most of the recipes, involved cooking in the rice cooker, taking the ingredients out adding rice, and turning it off and on. There were too many steps and also meant I had to buy another rice cooker. Its just not what I expected.

This book is packed with innovative and tasty recipes, but American cooks with little experience or access to Asian ingredients may find this book a challenge. Ingredient lists go beyond soy sauce and Chinese cooking wine; lychee, gojiberries and a variety of mushrooms also show up. Recipes with seafood - shrimp, scallops and fish are heavily represented. Dorm cooks looking for a cookbook to walk them through macaroni and cheese in their rice cookers should look for a more basic manual. Braver souls with a pantry and a willingness to explore their one pot wonder will be rewarded handsomely.

I got it for a friend who is in the dorm @ collage & they use it some times .

This is an ok place to start after you get a rice cooker. Definitely a good companion to give with a rice maker to a college kid going off. Turns a uni-tasker to an all around cooking item.
