David Roper is a true "wordsmith." The way he writes his books only adds to the pleasure and encouragement of reading them. I read through this copy cover-to-cover at one sitting (for the second time after a hiatus of several years) before I gave it to my grown-up son. Check out his ministry and personal background via his website (you can find it by Googling his name). He will inspire you to understand the Lord more deeply and authentically, even if you have known Him for a long time.

LOVE this author, love this book! This book is very encouraging. I bought as many as I could find from thrift store and used publishers to give as gifts this Christmas. = Yes! It's that good - to give even in used condition!

This is my 2nd book by David Roper. I have to say it has exceeded my expectations. I have been searching for a book that would help me decipher certain words and phrases detailed in the bible. David Roper does a wonderful job of explaining and providing a visual description of Elijah's trials and tribulations.A am ashamed to admit I have a horrible prayer life, but every time I pick up this book it leaves me with an urgency to drop to my knees and just dwell with Him, praise Him, thank Him and pour out my love and gratitude for Him.

This book "Elijah,a man like us uses this great man,s name as a springboard to talk about a great many things that challenge us Christians and is not a detailed study of Elijah as I thought it would be,so be aware of that 1st off.The author uses primarily the NIV Bible version in his numerous nuggets and explanations.I feel the KJV is much more accurate and complete so one may have to keep a Bible handy to see and prove for himself the huge differences between the NIV and the KJV.Moreover this book has some blank pages in the back for notes but provides no index or references in the back for further study.I disagree with the author three times in the book,page 40,193 and 236.A huge, glaring mistake I believe is to be found on page 193.He says about Jesus Christ--He had a period of time He too wanted to give up.--The author quotes Isaiah 49:4-"I have labored for no purpose,I have spent my strength in vain and for nothing"---NIVThis is not Isaiah talking about the messiah tired and wanting to give up,in My Bible(KJV) in Isaiah 49:4 says -"then I said I have labored in vain,yet surely my judgement is with the Lord and my work with my God".--This is clearly Isaiah that was tired and wanting to give up and not a prophecy of Christ wanting to give up.Other than those 3 mistakes this book I feel is full of Bible nuggets and insights and is well worth the buying price,especially if you buy it used as I nearly always do.

A truly amazing book. Mr. Roper is anointed and creative with great wisdom. I wouod recommend this book for anyone to read and be enouraged, lifted up and see God is workinmg in all countries all the time--He has his man cut out for just the right evil time. Amaaing sentences of warning, reproof, correction onthe right pathe and so much more

I recommend this book. It walks us through the life of Elijah showing us the parallels between his physical journey vs our spiritual pilgrimage. The question this book helped me answer was how to walk as a spirit filled person in a secular world.

I recently found David Roper's books, and I'm in love. Is view on the Word of God is; more than inspiring. I'm hooked, and so when I realize I could purchase books from here at a cheaper cost, I was truly in love. THANKS!!

I enjoyed this even though it is the story of a business being destroyed and a country being harmed by 'free trade'.I have been to Italy and loved it. It's a shame to see this type of thing happening. It tells of a factory being bought out by Chinese companies and then they send in workers to run the machinery and sleep on the factory floor. They do this so they can still say the products are made in Italy.There was an article in the news this past week about a fire in a factory in Italy in which some workers died. They were some of twelve Chinese workers living in a room in the factory where they worked. Exactly the type of thing this book covers.

This is a very well written and enjoyable book to read. The tone and subject of the book may be very dark and sad but the authors writing style makes this digestable. It was very quick read only taking half a day but it seems even shorter cause the book just draws and keeps you drawn in. On top of the great book you can't even tell it has been translated from Italian, which was something I was worried about when I first got the book. Overall this is a great read!

This spectacular gem of a book is one of the best nonfiction books I have read.As a writer who included a segment on Prato's textile machinery manufacturers in my book, Life with an Accent, I am in awe at the prose and the way Nesi handles serious political and current events that impact ordinary citizens. I plan to buy a dozen copies to give as gifts to all those who ask my husband to explain his business relationship with machine manufacturers in Tuscany and why the textile industry has changed in America as well as Italy. Very sad story of how globalization destroyed textile industry in one region of Italy. That had happened to so many other industries and communities throughout the developed world. The gains of many in China, India, Bangladesh or Cambodia meant serious losses for people in Italy, France, United States et al. Everytime when one buys a Chinese-made T-shirt or Bangladesh-made jacket it would be wise to think a while about the consequences of offshoring and outsourcing that are hailed as a great successes of globalization.

Edoardo Nesi paints a picture of a hardworking family and community who were one of the most sought out creators and manufacturers of high fashion textiles who have been forced out of business as a result of the globalization of the industry. The book is heartfelt and personal. I would recommend this book as a compelling story that provides insight to the plight of companies that are unable to compete in the global market.

I just read "Story of My People," by Edoardo Nesi. This is the first non-fiction title to ever win Italy's Strega prize. This short, smart, angry, and sad book documents the hollowing-out of Prato's centuries-old fabric industry in the face of globalization. (Another fabulous book, Iris Origo's "The Merchant of Prato," documents, among other things, Prato's fabric industry - in the 1300s!)Nesi's book is also a compelling intellectual autobiography, of a sort. He somehow managed to translate "Infinite Jest" into Italian, a thankless task. His writing reminds me of Roberto Saviano's "Gomorrah," with a shared sense of moral outrage.

I felt both sad and proud while reading this book because it explains the waning of the textile business in Italy and the root causes. Made in Italy no longer means what it did in the past and that is very sad. I was proud of the Italian tradition up and until the near present.

This is book 2 in the Newpointe 911 series.Well, it's no secret that I adore Terri Blackstock. This book leaves me with no different opinion. The title was extremely fitting. The characters battled with doubting and maintaining faith in the suspect, a dear friend to many of them. Doubt is something that tickles in the back of your mind, it slips in; it's not a brick wall that just hits you in the face. But just a tiny bit of doubt is enough to tint your opinions and views, which will affect your actions.Terri Blackstock has expertly woven a new story in her Newpointe 911 series. This story surrounds Celia and Stan Shepherd. The recurring characters continue to develop and we get to peek into Allie and Mark's restored relationship too. I loved the plot and, of course, I love the characters. The setting feels so authentic to me, but I wouldn't really know any different if I were honest. I particularly enjoy the small town atmosphere; now that I can attest to. Overall, wonderful addition to my library!

Truthfully I could not believe how self-destructive Celia's actions were through much of the book. With all this damage control, the real killer had to be carefully ferreted out. Well done!

I really enjoy this series, but it would be way more interesting if they were a little less predictable. It was so obvious who the killer was, it made me frustrated with the police and everyone else in the book!

I've read several of Terri Blackstock's books and have enjoyed them all. I had no problem getting into the story right away. It's been quite a while since I read the first book in the series and I don't remember the police force being such a group of bumbling idiots. I did have the killer figured out about a third of the way into the book. Even still, I couldn't put it down because I was anxious to see how much more the authorities could screw things up and to what lengths they finally had to go to catch the killer.Aunt Aggie's character was stellar and the additional groundwork of Jill and Dan's relationship will surely be key to a later installment. There's also an inkling that something could crop up between Nick and Issie.

Ms. Blackstock is an excellent writer. She certainly knows how to get one's attention from the beginning. The suspense and story line keep the reader wanting to keep going--hate to put the book down!

This was a suspenseful book. It kept my attention and I wanted to keep reading (even to 2 and 3 A.M.) to the very end. I did figure out who did it before the end but wanted to get verification of my idea. Terri Blackstock is a great writer and never under performs with her books. Buy it or borrow it and read. The suspense will keep you reading while the gospel message trickles in. A wonderful mix of who done it with Christian values that will leave you wanting more.

As usual, I enjoyed this book by Terri Blackstock. She keeps your interest all the way through to the end. And I never have to worry about coming across foul language or steamy hot sex scenes. All her books are based on Christianity and her love of the Lord and his book. I read her books over and over again.

I competed four times at the N.E.O.A.A. badminton regional level winning the ladies doubles event twice. I competed at O.F.S.A.A. badminton two years in a row winning 7th place the first time (a bronze medal in the "B" flightl) and 4th place in Ontario the second time (an antique bronze medal in the "A" flight). I have won many awards in ladies singles at various N.O.B.A. circuit tournaments as well as ladies doubles and mixed doubles events at the N.O.B.A. level. I have won badminton team MVP 4 years in a row as well as this year's athlete of the year for my accomplishments in badminton. I have attended 3 badminton camps with Stefan Wojcikiewicz and Andrew Dabeka, Canada's best, in order to raise my level of play. This book focus directly and specifically on weight training.It shows you the techniques for using a gym with most of it illustrated with picture.It also has some recommended program with methods of calculating the exact weight for training etc.Overall, it seems to be a generic gym book but with the routine focused on muscle group or body part specific to badminton.At this moment, I will give it an average rating.Will give the program a try to see whether it will improve my physical conditions (agility and speed) for badminton.
