I grabbed "Brave, Not Perfect" for my oldest daughter to read because it seemed like an interesting read for young women. After completing the book, she seemed very uplifted and said she has a different outlook on her life as she prepares to enter into a new year. We had a lengthy discussion after she finished reading. She said she connected with the book immediately while reading about how others struggle with this ideal image or the perception of perfection on a daily basis. She found the author's personal story about running for city council to be both crucial and inspiring. She said imagining herself in that same position, she would have listened to her friends and backed down. She shared that she was ashamed to know that truth, but grateful to recognize it because it encourages her to reconsider before thinking she can not do something. The other stories and examples also hit home for her in many aspects of her life, both personal and professional.She shared that as she read this book, she thought of the countless times where she should have spoken up or the numerous opportunities she had to take more risks and jump into the unknown. She also thought of several friends of hers who have shared similar struggles. She plans to encourage them to read the book as well because she feels it will be beneficial to them.She said that she now realizes that sometimes it's okay to admit you are not perfect, and that you should take more risks to fulfill yourself. She said the book was a quick, easy and delightful read. She encourages everyone to read it because she feels many people, regardless of gender, will find this book useful in evaluating their life. I like the ideas in this book. I'm a woman and now I have two daughters of my own, so I enjoyed the perspective this book offers, and it made me really think about how I choose to teach and discipline my children. The book seems wordy in parts - reiterating the same idea over and over again. Although I believe the ideas are important, any book will become boring when the same idea is discussed ad nauseam. In the beginning half of the book, I was annoyed because I felt like the book points out problems but does not really discuss ideas for how to apply them to everyday life. Near the end of the book, she does offer some application instructions and ideas. I'm thankful for these, but do wish they were a little more evenly distributed throughout the book. I would completely recommend the content of this book, but I do wish it was slightly rearranged and perhaps edited down a bit in places.

First two sections are great ! Last section had “ok” advice nothing shocking

Great message, very inspiring. I ordered this book after seeing Rachel Hollis brag about it on her instagram, and I must say I am not disappointed. Love this book!

Reshma Saujani shares her story to help make the case that the relentless striving for perfection leads to a narrowing of goals and also of achievements. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence, but as I read the book, much of my own experience dovetailed with Saujani's statements and claims. Her message of shaking off the criticism (internal self critics and external critics who use a tougher standard for women), learning to take failure as part of the learning process, etc. these are straightforward messages that are helpful to have reinforced. But I was also hoping for more than this message repeated in many ways and anecdotes. Fortunately, Saujani does suggest exercises for bravery in the last 1/3 of the book. Chapters on "Building a Bravery Mindset", "Get Caught Trying", "Nix the Need to Please", "Play for Team Brave", and "Surviving a Big, Fat, Failure" have concrete suggestions.

An outstanding personal development/self-help/growth book about the ways men and women are cued to behave differently. Women, so frequently, are encouraged to be perfect and when something can't be done in such a way, they shouldn't bother trying. That leads, then, to not trying new things or developing their bravery muscle. Saujani offers up some of the ways that bravery can be practiced and integrated and how to break away from those preconceived ideas of perfection.Short, succinct, and doesn't feel like a book made from a TED Talk. It offers actionable steps, powerful insights, and tons of science/social science research. The voice is excellent and encouraging. It was a reminder to not shut up in instances where speaking up or out would be of tremendous value.Perfect for those who love DROP THE BALL or who are tired of cis white dudes leading the ~disruption~ in personal development. Saujani is a woman of color, and her background is tremendously necessary in this space.

Most of my piano skills are self-taught, and I love classical music. I love this book! It has a wonderful selection of pieces, and it delivers as promised - easy keys. The font is a perfect size. The pieces are set up so there is minimal need to flip pages. I love using this book for the piano. But even better, I just started playing the accordion, and many of the pieces are wonderfully suited for that instrument. I highly recommend this book. I saw some reviews that mentioned mistakes in the book. Not a problem. I found maybe a handful in the entire book, and they were easy to fix. For years classical music was unavailable to me. Now I can enjoy it, too!

Kindle version of this works great. I have downloaded several fake books through Kindle and I have several devices that have Kindle. First, the Kindle versions do not require a book, or keeping up with many books. I can take a tablet to the piano and just flip the pages as they come. My tablet has several fake books on it. Now, with several devices--not so much with Classical as with Christmas, Country, Pop, etc.--I can easily share the music in a group for a singalong. Obviously the music in a simple key and with simple notation will not satisfy a well-classically trained musician, but it works great for me.

This book is great for piano or keyboard beginners that like serious music. It may be "step 2" or "step 3" in the learning process due to the increased demands on left hand chord activity and slight increase in sharp and flat note requirements. It contains many of the songs the average serious music aficiando may enjoy like Fur Elise, Canon D (in C), Air, Ave Maria and many more. This book is an opportunity that will take me to a higher level of enjoyment with my keyboard.I now have four fake books and I find all of them easy to use and a great method to self teach myself. I will be purchasing more in the future because I enjoy many musical genres.

This book is part of my favorite Hal Leonard Series. These song books feature a larger easier to read format. Recommended for the intermediate player.

As an adult with only a few months of piano lessons several years ago, I simply love this book. I feel like a pro, well not exactly like a pro, but I can play the music. YAY! All I need to do is impress my husband and children and this book allows me to do that, as well as feeling accomplished. I will defintely try more of the fake books.

The gods are now believed in because they must be the enforcers of moral law. Men and women ought to resist unreasonable emotional urges or face tragic consequences. The single worst fate man can encounter is the loss of his reason.That tragedy made this turn, the gods being pushed off stage and made objects of belief instead of necessity, the characters depicting real people instead of irrational forces of nature and the warm embrace of reason and everything civilized—these are all marks of progress towards a freer and happier human condition. Euripides should be celebrated as a herald of enlightenment thinking.And, of course, the plots themselves have their own interest and merit. All college students should be exposed to Greek civilization and Euripides, humanizing the Socratic revolution by incorporating it into the tragic tradition, is an excellent vehicle to introduce it. This translation, while some fifty years old, reads like modern English and can still be used at the collegiate level. Highly recommended.

I like modern, readable translations and these are great. There are some very nice and helpful footnotes provided which were very much appreciated. I teach Ancient Philosophy, among other topics, and I was very happy with these translations of profound works of art. Medea, for instance, is a truly alarming and impressive creation.

Medea and Other Plays is a collection of plays: Medea, Hippolytus, Electra, and Helen.It begins with Medea, whose husband has married the daughter of Creon, the king. Medea and her childrean are banished from the land, so Medea concocts a plot to kill the king, her husband, his new wife, and the children in revenge against her spouse.She then tricks the daughter of creon into wearing cursed robes so htat she is killed, and the king with her, and then she kills her children, much to her husband's dismay.Then the next book is Hippolytus. Hippolytus begins with the banished king of Athens and his illegitimate son Hippolytus, who is not favorable towards women, so he garners the hate of Aphrodite, who concocts a plot against him. A womam claims to love him, and in secret wants to see him, but he exclaims to the world the evils of women, and with her secret out, she hangs herself. Then they must escape from Egypt where they are, which they do by tricking Theoclymenus into giving them a boat.These 4 greek plays are excellentlly written, Euripides,afterall, was one of the greatest greek playwriters of all time, and his plays are a wonderful collection of stories.James Morwood translates them very well, so that they are fluid and easy to understand.The book is slightly over 200 pages and is an easy and enjoyable read.It is a recommendable book to anyone looking to get a copy of these plays or any greek play.

The book was awesome to read and also very easy to understand. I really enjoyed this book. If your looking to read great book on Greek tragedies then this is the book for you.

I was pleasantly surprised when I was reading "Medea". About halfway through the play, I realized that the themes of revenge, depression, and female empowerment are still relevant. Infidelity and vengeance are things witnessed everyday: in movies, in the news, maybe even in our own lives. This string of themes proves further that human kind hasn't changed too much. Though I did have some problems with the plot and some of the overdramatics. Medea revealed to the audience a vulnerable, passionate woman who has a bit of a drama problem and needs just a little too much attention. I think any reader can appreciate the pain she suffered and the disgusting way people in power dealt with her. But is there a line being far over-stepped by killing one's own children just to make a man feel guilty?Though there is some undeniable hyperbole, it is a story a reader or audience member can empathize, and is totally plausible in a modern setting.

I have only had these cards a day and already have had an amazing experience with them! I have heard from two psychic mediums that I have an unnecessary worry around money which I had no idea was an issue but could see how that might be. So, I thought these cards might help after first trying "Daily Guidance from your Angels oracle cards" for a month and a half. I started with the question, "what do I need to begin to welcome abundance into my life" and a card fell out while I was shuffling. The card was, "Sever Vows of Poverty". It had never occurred to me that I may have in a past life had a vow of poverty that was affecting me today. The card gave me instructions of how to release the vow and that I may feel a shudder as the pent-up energy was released and I did! I suspected my husband needed to do this too because some of my limiting beliefs around money are reinforced by him. I planned on having him do the same process of release I had but had him draw his own card first. It was the same card!!!! I was stunned and elated! He released the vows, not necessarily believing in it but not being opposed to try it. It remains to be seen what happens next but I am excited! It think it is absolutely astonishing that I got such a helpful and dead-on card so immediately.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! I just received the cards and I am blown away at the gorgeousness of the artwork and beautiful messages. I googled the artist Marius Michael-George and found his FB fan page post showing all the angel images on these cards which I will post below. I own a few of Doreen Virtue's angel decks but this is my absolute favorite. Congratulations to both author and artist!!!

I've been loving and enjoying this deck. I've found that it works for most questions pertaining to career, love, well-being, or general, since abundance is more than just financial flow. Abundance can be anything positive in most any arena. My favorite part of the cards are the words or phrases used for each card image, which are all connected to manifestation and abundance. They stand as not only a reminder, but can shine a light on something you might have already been aware of, but needed someone or the cards to solidify that this is what you should be paying more attention to.I've done numerous practice readings with this deck to find that have been amazingly accurate and helpful for myself and for others. For example, with one person who has her own spiritual practice, she had gone away to see her family in Italy. She came back to the states and caught the flu, then found her income was drastically decreasing to the point where she's making just enough to pay her bills, rent, and food. Of course the angels will makes sure you're taken care of even if it means to the point where you have a roof over your head with no problem, you're clothed, get your bills paid, and have food. While for some, that still might bring on some fear, because you don't have much else left to do anything, but at least you're taken care of. She has some potential opportunities coming in up ahead that include paid speaking engagements and other potential side gig offers, but wasn't sure if she should pay attention to those.The card we pulled from this deck for her was, "Moonlighting". This confirmed for her that these side gigs are blessings disguised as opportunities. They are put in her path to alleviate any negative thoughts she was starting to conjure up about finances due to stress, worry, and negative thoughts. When you start stressing out or worrying about where your finances are at, then as this deck confirms that this will further block the flow of abundance.One of the other cards we pulled on her from this deck was, "Exercise to increase your energy and manifestation abilities." Her physical energy declined naturally when she caught the flu. This put her in a negative state and as a result her income started dropping too. As she rebuilds her immune system and her physical energy, coupled with these new positive opportunities being thrown her way with the "Moonlighting" card, this further confirmed that this will all help increase the original positive manifestation cycle she was on before she got sick. The final third card pulled was, "Words of Abundance", which further cemented that she needs to alter her thoughts to positive ones. In general, she's typically a bubbly positive person by nature, so it was rare that she hit a slump as we all can from time to time, but these cards definitely shifted her outlook and got her mindset back on track. The next day after this reading, she was excited to tell me that all of a sudden she received numerous inquiries for healing's and that there was drastic movement out of nowhere.These were just a couple quick examples of how the deck confirmed some things in a reading. The deck feels positive and uplifting to me. I love the varying colors from one card to the next. The deck feels great in my hands and shuffles easily. The artwork is magnificent, beautiful, and soft with one or more angels on each of them. This is a deck that pretty much everybody should pick up, because so many people are struggling to attract in positive circumstances. Abundance is a universal theme that so many are thriving for. This deck can help re-center you and get you back on track. If you're a beginner, it's easy to shuffle and understand. Each card has a few sentences on the bottom of the card to assist those who need it. There is also a small guidebook with a longer explanation of some possible meanings. If you're advanced, this can help lend some extra emphasis on your readings for those struggling to attract in positive circumstances and abundance.

I bought this particular deck as a gift for a friend. She is very happy with them.I had already bought a deck of these cards for my own use. They are a great deck for seeking guidance for blocks regarding abundance. Also for any guidance you may want regarding how to achieve your goals. These cards aren't just for monetary and or job related questions. Although there are cards that deal with those issues too. They're about abundance issues in all forms. As an example, some cards are "Sever Vows of Poverty" - "Detox your Friendships" - "Conscious Consumer" - "Clean-Energy Food" - "Gratitude List" - "Do the Work" - "Employment Change." I like these new decks of Doreen's that have a specific theme. I think you can get a lot more specific guidance from these themed decks; than you can from a more general / all purpose deck.

The booklet is complete barf. This deck sadly was made in around the time Doreen became a fundamentalist conservative born again Christian which she denounced the new age and here, basically craps on her own cards. The descriptions are god awful. So much dogma. She says radical statements like only god has power crystals do not and used basically for nothing. The art is too beautiful for such a sad and hideous story. So very sad. She took something so beautiful and tries to make it toxic for the people who made her.

I received the deck today. I was excited at first. Every single card has a positive message. If you are looking for motivation or an inspirational deck then this one is for you. I don’t like them. It comes with The booklet and the booklet doesn’t really have good explanation of the cards. Each person will have their own experience with the cards. I got them for the diversity of the cards. The artwork is dated. I am going to get more. I’m trying to work my way up to traditional tarot cards.

This is the first time I have ever bought oracle cards. And these are so beautiful. I really love them. You will not be disappointed if you buy these.
