This is such a needed book and series! Reading this book reminded me of when I watched Wonder Woman for the first time. I never realized that female heroes were missing until I saw what one looked like. It's the same thing in how we often teach kids about the Bible. Just focus on David, Abraham, Paul, Daniel, and Peter. Yet the women are just as important in the story God is telling through Scripture.When it comes to the exodus, Miriam often gets forgotten but she is more than a footnote. God used her to keep Moses safe and she was there the whole time during the exodus. I can't wait to see which woman they focus on next. I hope it's Deborah!Also, the art is incredible. I don't know if I've ever seen such art in a kids book. It feels like you're looking at scenes from an epic movie (and this story definitely is epic), but it's not too intense for my toddlers. In fact, they love it!

My daughter is about to become a big sister, and enjoys reading about another little girl with a baby brother. Miriam is presented as a very accessible character, a “big helper” for her mother and her brother. She is brave, thinks quickly under pressure, and isn’t afraid to express joy when appropriate- an excellent role model. I found the language accessible for my child, the pictures were well done, and my daughter identifies well with Miriam. The length of the book may be more suitable for older readers, as my daughter (age three) gets fidgety between the encounter with the Princess and Exodus.

Oh my! I love this book! The illustrations are amazing--so beautiful, so epic. Miriam comes alive off the pages! And the story--it's great to see a woman of the Bible celebrated and honored in this way. I bought this for my little great niece--I SO want her to know this story and get a vision for herself of how God could use HER in great and mighty ways. Thanks so much to these authors and the illustrator for bringing the incredible story of Miriam to life.

This is a truly unique and lovely read. There is such a gap in this genre! We have many books in our household related to biblical characters but they are generally patriarchal. While those stories have real value, I can't imagine how my daughters would be able to see themselves-their hearts, their passions, their struggles- in some of the characters commonly highlighted in these types of books. This book, on the other hand, highlights a girl (can you imagine?!) following the will of the Lord, stepping out in faith, and impacting all of history. Wow! And not only do I love it for that reason alone, but my 3-year-old genuinely enjoyed it as well. Highly recommend! I've already purchased a few more copies as gifts for my nieces.

I purchased his book as a gift for my daughter. She is the youngest, with two older brothers. My sons have loved it just as much as she does! I think it is wonderful that it can not only be an inspiration for young girls to read about strong biblical women, but also for boys to learn to respect the girls/women in their lives as well!

We have been studying Moses together as a family and this was the PERFECT book for my five year old daughter. The illustrations are beautiful! We have preordered the next book and are planning to have the entire collection in our home library!

My toddler loves this book and will even call her baby brother Moses. The stories we tell our kids matter, and I'm so glad to have this one from Miriam's point of view to share with my daughter.

The free preview made me think that I was really going to like this book and for the first third of it, I was having a good time. The character development for Charlie was really working and I found myself rooting for the scrappy young thief. The world-building was going well and I was looking forward to seeing what happened. Then everything went wrong.First, Charlie turned into a bad romance character rather than a good urban fantasy character. Despite being kidnapped and beaten, she decided that the man who was holding her was just so dreamy and couldn't stop thinking about how manly he was. This guy, who is being forced into the position of eventual love interest for no reason that I could perceive, kidnaps her, allows her to be attacked and nearly raped in order to gain her loyalty (yeah, still having problems with that), is cold toward her, and for some reason, all of this just makes him super-duper appealing to her.And then there was how when she was disguised as a boy, she was smart and persistent while trying to fight back and escape. Once she was "womanized," she became pretty much useless. She was either a hostage or kidnap-bait.All of the secondary characters were interesting, but it was hard to stay interested in them when I found myself disliking the two main characters so much. By the end of it, I found no reason why Charlie would stick around but knew that she would because they have to force into that rather disturbing romance.

Based on the free sample of this story, I was intrigued--a woman posing as a young boy in order to get buy, necromancy powers that she has never really explored, and people trying to track her down because of those powers for unknown reasons. I enjoyed the first third of the book, where we saw Charlie struggling to find a way to deal with her situation, but the romance really killed it for me, and a number of the twists later on in the story were predictable. The story presented opportunities for Charlie to develop meaningful and interesting relationships, not just in the romantic category but through friendships and working relationships with the other main characters, but only a few of these were actualized. Worse, the "romance" was both predictable and not appealing because of how much of a jerk the romantic interest was throughout the story. Despite the interspersed comments on Charlie's physical attraction to Fitzroy and his apparent protectiveness of Charlie, there's little substance to the quick development of their feelings for one another. Beyond that and avoiding any specific spoilers, Fitzroy was in starts manipulative, overprotective to the point of being stifling, patronizing, and hedging on abusive in the way he treats Charlie. I don't anticipate great literature in these reads and I recognize the appeal of maintaining mystery around the romantic interests, but I generally prefer relationships to be an overall positive thing that push the development of both characters in meaningful ways, and the romance in this story felt like the opposite of that for Charlie.Apart from the romance issue, Charlie has been an independent youth for years, and her sudden shift from seeking to protect her secrets and escape to being desperate to stay on at the Ministry in any capacity versus other options given her was uninspiring. Recognizing the gender limitations present in the portrayed Victorian-era society, the main character's devolution disappointed me. I will not be reading the rest of the series because I was disappointed in the overall execution, despite an interesting initial concept.

While the writing is decent and the story somewhat entertaining, the main character is a disappointment. As a homeless girl pretending to be a boy, the character shows bravery and ingenuity. However, when she gets a bath and is exposed as a girl, she reverts to some fearful, incompetent Victorian woman.

This was similar to Mairelon the Magican and Magician's Ward by Patricia Wrede, but seemed to lack the playfulness and fun of the older series. The main character here is a young lady who discovered that she could bring the dead back to life and ran away from a father who didn't understand.There are some attempts to add twists and surprises, but the romance was too obviously grafted onto the story and just didn't make sense in any form. The male love interest was far too cold and exacting to seem like someone a woman would become interested in. But then again, I hate the vampire romances that permeate the urban fantasy genre, and he could have fit there just fine in many ways.Good for lovers of this kind of tale, but I felt it lacked anything to make it special or new.

This book could have been so awesome and was until a street smart "boy" turned into a not too bright damsel in distress. It was annoying that she had to be rescued in every predicament she got into. I wish I could have enjoyed it instead rolling my eyes almost every chapter.Much better books: Rylee Adamson series or Elemental series - both by Shannon Mayer or Rachel Morgan series by Kim Harrison. I guarantee no damsels in distress.

But Charlie is an idiot who thinks she knows everything. Swears she is capable of taking care of herself but always needs rescuing.....completely irritating. She ruined the book for me.

This book had a lot of potential to be really good, but then it just falls flat. The character has some serious potential, but the second she gets captured she takes a turn downhill. Once, Charlie becomes clean she turns into a completely different character incapable of being independent.

I spent way too much time getting into this book just to be turned off by a scene where the main character is set up to get raped so that her kidnapper can rescue her...and she gets all swoonie over it. Another book about how a young strong intelligent woman is turned into a helpless hormonal heap of uselessness over a man who is rude, cold, and uncaring...and sets her up to be raped to teach her a lesson....

I have seen the book and it helps to me to understand how I can learn programming with structures and control structures, also explains the basics of electronics, how we can mix all the stuff in a prototype, I like the chapter about structures of programming, because it can help us how to create a code with programming skills. In the last chapters we can see the application of the previous chapters, I appreciate the use of Bluetooth, this is the first book I see it has the content of Bluetooth and its applications with Arduino. It explains how integrate all in the different projects, Electronics, Programming, sensors, Communications.We can summarice the content in the following:Chapter 1: Introduction to Arduino boards, technical information, good to see this chapter, some times we need to create new things with it.Chapter 2: Basic electronics concepts and where to apply it, this is useful to understand the basics, great.Chapter 3: Circuit diagrams, useful to understand the circuits, complement with the last chapter.Chapter 4: Prototyping, great to have, how we can integrate the tools to create a prototypeChapters 5,6, and 7: Give us the ability to create and understand the coding in Arduno, how it works, how we can structure a sketch.Chapters 8-19: Give us the tool to develop projects, I could apply the first projects and give me some ideas how can integrate all in applications.Chapter 20-21: These two chapters like a lot because none of the books I have learned before explained the usage of Bluetooth.Rubén Oliva Ramos.

The book is great. It covers all the basics and advanced stuffs when it comes to "Programming using the Arduino platform". Additionally it covers aspects related to core basic electronics which should be necessary according to me. The chapters are well written with detailed explanation and a project based approach. This book should is good for students and developers who wanna get their hands dirty with Arduino.Overall, a great book and very well written. :)

I got this book expecting to introduce myself to Arduino for a specific project I have to complete. By one side, the book helped me a lot, since half of it is devoted to specific projects, well detailed, that allowed me to understand the problem I was facing and how to solve it. The not interesting, from my perspective, are the 6 first chapters!!!! Somebody who wants to go into Arduino has to have some idea about electricity or programming. A book named "Mastering Arduino" cannot devote itself to explain how electricity works!!! If you are interested on the book just take a look into the contents to see if this is exactly what you need.

The book is a very good reference, but the digital quality is very bad. Letters are missing from words, and it features nonsensical overtype and missing symbols from formulae. It is the lowest quality Amazon e-book I've seen; all of the equations that aren't overtyped or missing variables look like they were copied and pasted images (there is blur/cutoff evidence).

This book has many very helpful algorithms and recommendations, but it is not a easy read if you want to understand the formulas. It is a great tool for beginning molecular simulations. It is definitely not a strictly MD book, and it has a good deal of help for MMC.

The textbook is great starting point to understand the classical molecular simulation. However, it lacks the understanding of quantum molecular dynamics. Otherwise, it is a solid textbook to use

Nice book, and the delivery was fast. It actually looked better than I expected.

When I have any question about simulations, this book is my first choice and it usually doesn't disappoint me. Best part of this book is crystal theory and algorithm. I know how to run a simulation, how to choose a parameter WITH CONFIDENCE after reading it. However, codes in it are not always helpful, I usually need to implement in my own way. In brief, this book is very good on basic principle and algorithm of molecular simulations, but not how to write a piece of code.

If you're seeking to teach yourself the craft behind fly fishing, this book should be on your radar. You need to know, though, that this book is not the most thorough of introductory books available on the subject and a true beginner might be better served with others.First, the good. Peter's work is very accessible. The visual presentation of the material is by far the best out there. Each of the patterns is rated for difficulty, the types of fish each pattern will catch, the recipe/materials that are required and a step-by-step how-to for each pattern is provided. Every pattern provided has a detailed close-up picture of the fly, large process photos for the critical steps and references to other patterns that utilize the same techniques. There are 14 core techniques shown in depth, all of which are important to know in order to tie a variety of flies. Peter covers the basics of the tools and materials that are available to the fly tier. If you also purchase his "Fly Tying Bible," I thought it was great that there is not very much overlap of the patterns in each book, and where there is, it's presented as an alternate pattern. Overall, it's enough information to get started in fly tying, but there's a lot more to know.Now the bad. In my opinion, this book will only take a true beginner so far, but will leave them hanging in too many places. Starting with materials, I had a lot of questions about the various materials out there and in my opinion, the necessary depth isn't in this book. Frankly, a book that doesn't explain the difference between a cape and a saddle to a beginner is missing the boat. Also, there is no truly helpful information about hooks, which is probably the most intimidating subject when it comes to fly tying. Those themes are consistent for all the materials he presents. While the core techniques are great, I found some of them entirely inaccessible. For example, when I was trying to learn how to whip finish, this book failed me whereas another helped me get it permanently in about two minutes. The patterns are not organized in any kind of way that will help you build upon your skills...figuring that out is left up to the reader and that expertise should not be placed on the beginner. The materials list for each pattern is typically good, but there are some inconsistencies in the hook types. Some are spelled out (e.g. 1xl dry fly, standard wet), yet others just don't have that detail and appear to have gotten past the editor.There's a critical review up here that he does call for a lot of various materials and that is true. Very true. If you follow his instructions, you'll go broke on hooks alone. What's important to understand about tying flies, and Peter does nothing to tell you this, is that it's a creative outlet and you have a lot of flexibility, as long as you have a more in depth understanding of the various materials out there. That will only come with research well outside the scope of this book. For example, the beginner only really needs rabbit fur and micro-fine dubbing, these are your basic wet and dry dubbings...there's no need for "antron" or "hare-tron." You don't need 80 different kinds of hooks - dry fly (14 & 16), wet fly/nymph (12 & 14) and 3XL streamer hooks (8 or 10) are typically enough for the beginner, though some patterns will work better with longer versions of those hook types, like bead head patterns. You don't need to go buy a specific hackle to make a specific tail - use a turkey biot or a pheasant tail instead.What this really is an addendum to Peter's other pattern book, "The Fly Tying Bible." If you look at it as a pattern book, not a beginner's book, then it will serve you well and is worth having on the tying desk. Pick up the spiral bound version (you'll thank me for it) if you're looking for inspiration and patterns...but look elsewhere if you really want to understand the skills surrounding fly tying. If you're looking for true beginner support, I suggest Charlie Craven's, "Basic Fly Tying: Modern Techniques for Flies That Catch Fish" as one of the best I've read.

Fly Tying For Beginners is a great step by step book for tying flies and is written by the same author of Fly Tying Bible which is another great step by step fly tying book. I recommend this book to anyone. Should come as standard for anyone learning to fly tying. Beautiful photos.

Great Illustrations and index of flies. Excellent quality of materials. Instructions are clear if you already have some fly tying skills. If you are truly a beginner learning to tie your first flies, I'd suggest looking for something slightly more instructive. Once you have tied a few flies and are comfortable with fly tying I'd move to this book of fly recipes.

I'm completely new at tying flies and wanted a visual aid. This seems perfect with quick reference in the front, clearly illustrated directions and even a list of predicted species of fish that each fly will catch. I also really liked the front pages dedicated to picturing and explaining the various fly tying tools you might want to have on hand. On its own, this book would leave me confused but used in reference with YouTube videos, it is a perfect companion.

This is an excellent book for beginner fly tyers. It provides instruction on the various techniques used in fly tying and then provides instructions for tying 50 flies. I have found it very helpful by how it explains the "how to" of different techniques.

This is one of the best three fly tying books I've found for beginners. I can't say I've been tying flies for a long time - I'm clearly in the beginner category. However, I've been writing documentation for a living and teaching how to design instructional materials at a university so I tend to be picky about these kinds of "starting guides." This book has a great deal to recommend it for beginners.The beginning portion of the book is devoted to a comprehensive section dealing with the basic fly tying skills and each of the individual fly "recipes" refers back to those relevant skills by page number. Pretty handy.The photographs are clear, relevant and in color. You would think that color wouldn't make a difference but in fly tying it does. So much of the material is colored that selecting and using the right one is far easier when the images are in accurate color.The step by step instructions are simple and concise. Boy, does that make a difference when you're looking back and forth between the book several times when you're first starting.It uses a spiral wire binder which means it lays open to the page you're working on without your having to use soda and beer cans as paper weights. This is a bonus because none of the flies I've found so far recommend adding a sugar coating to the feathers.Finally, the book not only includes a list of materials needed for each fly, making trips to the fly store for materials easier, but it also includes in the description the kind of fish that fly is good for. Again, this is a handy bonus for beginners. I want to tie flies I'll use for particular fish and tend to stay away from those that won't be useful to me.My only disappointment is a minor one. It doesn't include instructions on using the Matarelli whip finisher but that's something I can live without.All in all, a great book for those just starting out in fly tying.

If you could only read one book on blood gasses this would have to be the one.This book covers the nitty-gritty about Arterial blood gasses (ABG). As a PhD who performs biomedical research, I have come across "experts" who resort to physiological babble because they dont know what arterial saturation is really all about. You will if you read this book.The book centers around four classic expresssions: (1) partial pressure of co2, (2) pH (3) alveolar gas equation, and (4) o2 content. From these four expressions, and a little knowledge of clinical medicine, you will understand just about everything you need to know about ABG. Dont let the equations scare you off; you know them already.The book is simple to read, and has example problems. The real-world examples/problems really help in applying the knowledge, which I found to be quite useful. The author does not go into deep biochemical details. But if you need a good solid introduction to blood chemistry, or have to review how to read an ABG report this is a great book.

Looking forward to putting these practices to a test

This is probably the most important book you should get for ABG interpretation. It is very well written and easy to understand. The working examples are the best part of this book. In particularly, the last two chapters contains many excellent clinical examples. These examples are invaluable for anyone who wish to better care for their patients with respiratory problems. To gain a greater understanding of physiology of respiratory illnesses, you often need to work in ICU for 1-2 years. By working through these examples, you will achieve the same in just a few weeks and be as confident as the respiratory fellow who is supposed to know it all. Most textbooks will only give you theoretical stuff. These examples teach you the actual "how to" at bedside. More importantly, you will get a much better understanding of the physiological principles. Everything starts to make sense after you have gone through this book.

Excellent book, easy to follow and understand, stands out among many other books addressing blood gas interpretation, my whole hearted recommendation

I am an RT instructor and I chose this book as a text book for my arterial blood gas analysis class. the students found it very difficult to understand and some of the formulas have been abreviated to the point that a novice will have trouble understanding them. This is a very good review for anyone who already has a general understanding of acid base, blood gas and electrolyte interpretation and can clear up some misconceptions, however, this book is not adequate for someone just learning the basics. My students were very unhappy and I wound up not using the text nearly as much as I had planned.

I was given this book when I rotated through the ICU as a 3rd year medical student. I had gone through other training classes that attempted to teach me how to read a blood gas but I never could get it down right. THEN, I read this one...it put things into the proper perspective and taught me what I needed to know when I was reading a blood gas. I highly recommend it!
