Been trying to obtain their Crab Bisque soup recipe for the past 4 years. Nice waiter referred me to the store next to the restaurant (Destin, FL), where the new recipe book was between $75-$100 - don't think so. Then a very nice staff person said they still use the recipe from the first Tommy Bahama cookbook. She walked to the back of restaurant, took the book and made a copy of the recipe for me. She also told me I could purchase the cookbook on Amazon for a reasonable price. Done!
I consider TB one of my favorite restaurants, so I was tickled to get this book when it first came out. However, I was disappointed to see that the majority of the book was stock photos, not pics of the restaurant or the prepared dishes.The layout of the book is very odd for a cookbook- the recipes are almost secondary to the "island lifestyle" tips smattered throughout. I was hoping to be able to display the cookbook in my kitchen, but feel that the layout just isn't right for it. Hard to read recipes are never fun.On the plus side, the food I make from it is always fabulous.
I miss the old TB's that's in Palm Springs since they changed the interior and the menu. Now it's just another boring restaurant with a common menu, and boring colors in the restaurant (dark and light gray). So, this cookbook was a great way to still experience the great tropical food that made the TB restaurant special. Apparently there are some mistakes in the book, but the corrections can be found online at tommybahama.com, which I'm going to print out and place in my cookbook.
More of a photo book then a recipe book. There are recipes; however it does not compare to Tommy Bahama's newer cookbook "Aloha". I recommend you buy the other and skip this one.
I bought this book for the crab bisque recipe. It is outstanding.
A few decent recipes but too fad like in nature for us.
Bought this book for the recipes but read it all for the information and enjoyed it a lot. I would recommend it.
It just seemed more like advertising for Tommy Bahama products rather that recipes. The pictures are beautiful, just the recipe content wasn't what I was expecting
